I have been using countless Master combo locks for many years and just got a new one. The lock looks OK, however, I am concerned that it is now produced in China - which is written on its packaging. Unfortunately, Amazon had no word on the country of origin. Master locks I purchased before were produced in the USA. Just think about extra fuel and packaging used to bring this lock here from the other side of the world. I know that some companies still produce same kind of locks in the USA. If you want to make purchasing decisions with environmental considerations like myself, consider a lock from a company, which produces it in the USA. I guess, no more master locks for me.

I recieved ONE lock. After checking this description again, I see that at the very bottom...................scroll down real far, the Product Description states that this item is "1 color randomly selected at the time of shipment".



Very mis-leading.

I got this as a replacement for an old combo-lock that I think I left hanging on a locker at the pool in another town. The problem with the old lock was the numbers were hard to see without my glasses, and I don't wear them in the pool or gym.



This one has nice big numbers and letters, with a tab on each wheel, so it is easy to see and easy to manipulate. The schackle is strong enough that someone wanting to steal your old sweat socks would have to just take the whole row of lockers. You can reset the combination with the replacement wheels, make you feel like James Bond.

Lock was wonderful until it literally froze up.



The dials are made of plastic. And for some unknown reason to me the dials seemed to have magically welded themselves together. Thus, rather than moving independently as they should, they move all together and there is no way to open the lock if it's closed, or close it if it's in the open position.



Once again, it's literally as if the plastic pieces are welded together. The lock was used in a position where it received a high level of sun UV rays and this could be the cause of the plastic welding together. It did occur gradually until one time I went to use the lock and it literally could not be used anymore.



So I would say, based upon my experience, avoid high sunlight conditions with this padlock.

I agree with the last review. I bought it to keep the kids out of the chicken house. This lock falls apart easily and can change to a combination you don't know. This happened twice in the first few times. The idea that you can set your own word combination is appealing but the pitfalls far outweigh this one benefit.

What an ingenious idea. No more trying to memorize random numbers. It's easy to create your own combination. Just slide the wheels on. You get to choose from letters, numbers and characters. Not all letters are represented, though.



I use this lock for the gym. I haven't gone for awhile, but I still remember the combo -- my own creation that makes sense to me! I can't tell you how many combination locks I've had to toss because I no longer had the combination.



This little lock fits on the locker at the gym just fine and is secure enough for locker room purposes.

In the set I received, all keys fit all locks, and none of the locks seemed to be flimsy. My wife traveled with one and it made the trip and did the job. If TSA cuts ever cuts them off, that will be out of my control and that of the manufacturer. I think the locks function as advertised and seem like they will hold up for several years.

What's to say? They lock, they unlock. Keys and locks both feel very sturdy, and they unlock extremely easily. I would happily buy more, if for some reason I had that many things to lock.



I did not actually use these for travel, so I can't comment on whether the TSA will need to break them when searching your luggage for three ounces of liquid or embarrassing sex toys.

And when I put them on locks on my suitcase, when I tried to open one of them with the keys provided, the key got stuck into the lock. As for the others, they worked as they were expected too. This item is very well-made and does the job. We bought this for my daughter's NYC apartment. She already has two locks, but the Super has one key, and who knows what else could happen, so we wanted her to be more secure. This item would prevent anyone from pushing in the door. My husband tried to open the door with this in place and he could not. It is very easy to adjust to fit, and that has to be done only the first time. After that, my daughter just easily puts it against the doorknob and it is all set. She has wood floors and the rubber grip holds very well against the wood. I liked that we could also use it as a horizontal security bar, since she has a narrow hallway (the width of the doorway) in the entry, she had the option to use it horizontally, but it works well as intended, against the doorknob, at a 45 degree angle. Easy to store when not in use (ie: when she is not there). I definitely recommend this product.

We purchased this bar to use on a regular main door of our home. We tried it on sliding glass doors, but found it too bulky for using with ease. It really would need to be thinner to use easily. That said, for the regular door we are very pleased with it. Fortunately, it will be used on a tiled floor. I tried it on a carpeted floor and I wouldn't recommend it for that use. It didn't grip the floor as well as it should. The cost was reasonable and it helps give a person a little peace of mind. One thing to keep in mind. If you have an electric garage door opener and the power goes out, you won't be able to get into your house unless you have a door without the security bar. That happened to a friend. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because it wasn't made in the USA. I would have been willing to pay more if it had been. I'll be ordering another one for a gift.

We live in an apartment, so we cannot add real security features to the door (metal frame, superior deadbolts, that sort of thing), so we have to make do with this sort of thing for right now.



The security bar seems to more or less do its job, but it seems flimsy to me. I have tried putting constant pressure on the door with the bar in place, and it has held (we have a wooden floor, which I think helps), and I have tried having my wife setting it in place, and going outside and lightly kicking at it (with the door unlocked and unlatched), and it held. However, it still seems flimsy to me, and I am not sure if it will hold against a 200+lb man kicking with all of his weight and strength (which is why you can see additional layers of door security in the video).



When you extend the bar out to the height it needs to reach our door handle, and then add the extra length to put the bar the recommended distance away from the door according to the manual, the bar goes from feeling rather solid, to rather flimsy. There is basically one single push-pin in the grid which is keeping the bar from collapsing. I am not at all sure that push pin can hold up to a fully grown man kicking as hard as he can.



In the video, you can see me moving the bar around, and you can see and hear it wobbling and clinking around. I then put it up beneath the handle but I don't push it in yet to fully secure it, and it is still rather wobbly. Then I put my foot at the base of it and hold it solid, and the wobbly factor goes down, but doesn't disappear. When you have it forcefully wedged under the door handle, and braced on a solid wood floor, then most of the wobble disappears. But that single push pin still makes me nervous, as does the overall solidity of this product. The product is from Master Lock, which is a brand I trust, so I am willing to assume their engineers designed that push pin to stand up against man-sized force. But I would still have felt better of the product felt less wobbly at all times, and not just when it was fully wedged against the door as hard as you can push it.



It is better than nothing, but I guess that is why we have multiple layers of door security. You just can't be too careful these days.

This is fantastic for patio doors. Keeps them very secure. Easy to install and remove when necessary with a basic flip of the wrist. It does not work as well in sliding windows. The tracks in windows are of course narrower than patio doors, so they have a tendency to fall you if not adjusted just right. Sturdy construction and easy to adjust width or height as needed. Personally I don't find they work real well on regular doors with knobs or handles. They do work, but care needs to be taken to get them adjusted just right especially if you have carpet. If you have tile or linoleum it probably would better than it does for me. This is the second one I have purchased because they do work well and great construction.

I read some of the other reviews with some of the problems. This product works well! You just have to adjust the length so that the ANGLE is what keeps the door from opening. The pad at the bottom is not meant to hold it in place, it is the angle that causes that pad to stay in place. Make it short enough to have the angle cause it to lock the door and it will work very well on both tile and carpet. It is a great additional security to any door. I use it on my doors at night for extra security. It is easy to put in a closet and out of the way when not in use. Great product and the price is good too. Ignore those who had trouble, I really think they just didn't adjust it correctly. I tried to enter the house from the outside on two doors (one carpeted floor and one tile) and found that when I got the length and angle right, that it was nearly impossible to open the door. This is a very good product and if you are considering it, buy it. If you have trouble at first, just work on the length and angle (shorter is better if it is giving you trouble) and it will work.

My wife had lost items from a piece of checked luggage where one of the zippered compartments had opened (or been opened) on a previous trip. So I thought it was time to put locks on for our next trip. I bought 6 of these locks (3 2-packs) for travel to Europe for a Mediterranean cruise. They worked perfectly. It was easy to set the custom combinations and they were sturdy enough to withstand 3 airports and the cruise line. Many reviewers have griped about the fact that you can't select the colors you get. Hey...they are just luggage locks! Color didn't matter to me as long as they held up. And they did. Decent product at a very good price.

The locks are very cheaply constructed and mine - just out of the package - both do not work!



I followed the instructions precicely and now they are LOCKED and neither my combination or the factory preset (000) will open them.



Total rip-off IMHO. Very dissatisfied.

I wanted to review this product mainly to let people know that I did get a neon colored pair (pink) since it seems like most of the bad reviews came from people getting nickel colored locks. I didn't mind getting a nickel colored pair so I ordered anyway.

Locks were easy to set, and seems like it would not be easy to get accidently reset (sometimes happens on other locks), though I have yet to actually travel with it.

Perfect for skis and snowboards when on the slopes. Also the length is great, more the better in my opinion. This comes with 3ft while others are 2ft, and belive me your going to happy with the extra foot for more flexibility on where you can lock your gear. Also, easily small enough to put in your pocket when not in use. It seems solid and secure enough for my needs. Of course "where there's a will, there's a way" so to speak, it seems that potential theives would go after the many unlocked skis I see at all over the place at the slopes rather than mess with a locked set... it just makes sense! ;)
